Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer Swatches

Maybelline Mineral Power Concealers in Sand and Beige

I decided to go back and try Maybelline's Mineral Power Concealer which worked well for me before because Rimmel's Match Perfection wasn't covering my dark circles enough. I bought them off of ebay.

Maybelline's concealers offer slightly more coverage compared to Rimmel's, but it's still not enough for my dark circles. It also creases more than the Rimmel one. I find that I'm just rubbing off the product trying to get rid of the creases. Time to go back to Collection 2000!

Koreadepart Haul!

DSC_0177
It's Skin Power 10 VC & VB Effector and Skinfood Black Bean Eye Brow Pencil in #3 Black Brown

I don't know why I didn't order from Koreadepart until now. Whenever I would search for more information on Korean skincare or makeup items I was interested in, Koreadepart would always show up. I didn't think you could actually buy from there! It's a good thing I know now because it's awesome!

DSC_0173

I made my order on a Thursday and they received my payment the same day. With Koreadepart, you have to send the payment for the items and the shipping yourself through Paypal. I received the shipping fee notification 4 days later on a Monday and paid the shipping fee the day of. It shipped the next day on Tuesday and I received it 10 days later on a Friday.

I chose Registered Mail and it cost $8.54 for 0.5kg (They also have EMS). It had a tracking number but it is not as detailed as using EMS (where they show every single stop). It only showed when it left Korea (through track-trace) and when it arrived in the U.S. and at the post office (through the USPS website).

My items arrived safely wrapped with plenty of bubble wrap. I received some samples as well! I picked up two Power 10 Effectors from It's Skin. VB got good reviews so I hope it helps me out with my oiliness! The VB Effector was $6.91 and the VC Effector was $6.79.

I wanted to try out the eye brow pencil from Etude House but they didn't carry it so I got one from Skinfood instead. I went to the Skinfood store to see how the color would look like and was kind of worried because it looked too brown. The sales associate was insisting I use #2 which is Black Grey because she has black hair as well, but #3 works for me.

As you can see, it is darker than MAC's Spiked. I'm not used to the darker color since I've been using the MAC one, but if I use a light hand and/or brush it out it looks fine. I find that MAC's eye brow pencil is easier to use because the tip is smaller and the product is softer so you can lightly brush it on. Skinfood's eye brow pencil is bigger and longer (like an oval) so it's a bit harder to stay within the lines. Also, the product isn't as soft as MAC's so you have to use a harder hand to get the color and that can make it look too dark.

Even though it's not as great as MAC's Spiked eye brow pencil, I would still repurchase it because of the price. Even though MAC's pencil lasts me a few months, $15 is a lot for a simple eye brow pencil. Skinfood's eye brow pencil does the job and it's cheap! (Side note: I saw that it was $5 in the store. Even though it's cheaper on the website, with shipping costs it's about the same). Skinfood contains 0.12g of product and MAC contains 0.09g, so there isn't a big difference but you can get 5 Skinfood pencils for the price of one MAC pencil.

Brand List

I think Koreadepart is wayyy better than Gmarket for buying Korean skincare and cosmetics. One of the biggest pros is shipping. Gmarket's shipping is SO expensive. I recently added two items to my shopping bag (It's Skin Power 10 Effector and a cell phone case) and the estimated shipping cost was around $40. I know that it's EMS and that they will use the actual shipping cost, but it's not worth it if you're only purchasing a few items. Koreadepart offers Registered Mail along with EMS which I prefer since I'm only buying a few items and I don't need it ASAP.

Another thing Koreadepart has over Gmarket is that their website is in English. It's so hard finding other brands or items on Gmarket that are not the most popular brands (such as Etude House, It's Skin, etc.). I found it impossible to find items because I didn't know the Korean translation for it and I could only find some if they had English in the item name. With Koreadepart, you can search by brand or type which I think is awesome because I can search for things such as cleansing oils or primers from different brands.

Koreadepart is an awesome place for us to buy Korean skincare and cosmetics and is a great alternative to Gmarket and ebay. I'll definitely be ordering from the again!!!

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer Swatches

DSC_0128
Rimmel Match Perfection Concealers in Fair/Light, Light, & Light/Medium

I wanted a new concealer because I felt like my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer wasn't doing it. I also had it for a year now so it was definitely time to throw it out. I went back to Sonia Kashuk's concealer palette and Hard Candy's Glamoflauge concealer, but I didn't like how either of them looked. I checked out Makeupalley's reviews and saw that this concealer had an average rating of 4.1 out of 5. Walgreens also had 50% off Rimmel cosmetics so I definitely had to try it out! First I picked up the light/medium shade, but it was too dark for my skin. Next time I went, I picked up light and fair/light.

The range of colors are really weird. Light is super pink, light/medium is tan, and the next one up (Medium) looks straight up yellow. Fair/light works for me right now and I'm hoping that light/medium will work when I get tanned during the summer. I'm bummed I can't return the shade Light because Walgreens doesn't accept opened/used cosmetics unless it caused a bad skin reaction.

I'm still figuring out if I like it or not. When I first tried it, I liked how it didn't crease as much as my other concealers. I can also put a few layers without making it cakey, but I still see my dark circles showing through.

I was finally able to get my hands on this after going to 3 different stores. I got it at Target for $3.99. NYX also has a nude pencil, but the closest Ulta is about 15 minutes away.

I picked this up to use on my waterline to brighten up my eyes. It is super creamy and I have to be careful in applying it so that I don't get it in my lashes. I haven't worn this out yet, but after 10 minutes I can see that it's starting to wear off. Still, I'm glad Rimmel has given us a drugstore option for nude eyeliners!

Small Drugstore Haul & Swatches!

DSC_0060
Left to Right: Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray, FX Sea Salt Spray, Hard Candy Glow All The Way Face & Body Luminizer, Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer SPF15

I passed by Walmart and Walgreens today to pick up a few things! I was running out of my Nexxus Heat Protection Spray and decided to pick up the new one from Tresemme because it was cheap ($4.48 at Walmart). I also picked up the FX Sea Salt Spray because I cut my hair recently and I want some waves/texture.

The makeup artist who did my makeup at the Make Up For Ever Makeup Bag Remix event used MUFE's Uplight on my cheeks instead of blush and I loved the look! I picked this up to try to recreate it. This "luminizer" goes for $8.00 and contains 76.6 g/2.7 oz. It's fairly large if you are only using this for your face. I'm excited to try this out on my body for the summer when I'm tanner!

I wanted to try Wet n Wild's Fergie Shimmer Palette but I saw this and it was cheaper! ($4.29 vs. $6.29). This bronzer is humungo. I'm afraid of dropping it or bringing it with me when I travel!

I saw the permanent display of Flower Beauty cosmetics and was tempted to pick up a few items, but stopped myself haha. I wanted to try the BB cream before, but didn't get it because it's kind of small and expensive for the size.

Ben Nye Banana Powder

DSC_0022
Ben Nye Banana Powder

I got this recently to see if it would help out with the foundations/BB creams that weren't working for me. I bought this at a local theatrical store (Fun House Theatrical in Mountain View if any of you are from the Bay Area!) for $8.99. It contains 1.5 oz/42 g. The packaging isn't the greatest so I dumped the powder in the Etude House Princess Etoinette Crystal Powder container into a plastic bag and put the Ben Nye powder!

IMG_1657

The main reason I purchased this was to help with the foundations/BB creams that weren't working for me because of the color (either they are too pink and/or beige). I haven't noticed a difference using this except with Skinfood's Peach Sake BB Cream. I think it worked with that because Skinfood's BB cream is more on the tan side and this powder brightened/lightened it up.

I've been using it to set my under eye concealer and I don't know if it's the powder or concealer, but after a few hours it looks dry and powdery. Overall, this powder just lightens my skin. It doesn't help with color correcting foundations/BB creams.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind The Lifter Foundation Swatches

DSC_1005
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind The Lifter Foundation in 270 Natural Beige & 300 Medium Beige

I went on a mad rampage a few weeks ago buying four foundations trying to find one that would match my neck. I picked up these two because they were new. I thought 270 Natural Beige would be a perfect fit, but it's lighter than my neck. I picked up 300 Medium Beige as well and it didn't work either because it had pink undertones. I finally said Fuck it! and went to Sephora to get Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. I was matched to Stromboli which I find a good match to my neck.

Right: 300 Medium Beige

270 Natural Beige looks like it has good yellow undertones, but compared to Nars Sheer Glow in Stromboli, it is more beige. I liked the dewy (but not oily) look of the foundation when it's first applied, but it turns into a satin-matte finish. I eventually returned these to CVS because the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation fits me better.

L'oreal Shine Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Infinite Fuchsia

DSC_1041
L'oreal Shine Caresse Wet Shine Stain 187 Infinite Fuschia

Ran out and purchased this after seeing the color Karmen of PeachyPink0614 was wearing in her swatch video of the L'oreal Shine Caresse Wet Shine Stains.

DSC_1058

I wasn't interested in them when they first came out, but after seeing that color I had to try it out! I usually don't wear lip glosses (or lipsticks for that matter) so this is different for me. It does oxidize to a darker color which I like. My biggest problem with this is that it's hard to apply it evenly. I tried applying one coat, even it out, and then applying more coats but it still came out uneven.

DSC_1045

I kinda went swatch crazy because I wanted to compare it to the other colors I have so here they are:

1. Clinique Chubby Stick in 01 Richer Raisin
2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 045 Romantic
3. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 005 Crush
4. NYX Goddess of the Night Lip Gloss in 139 Garnet
5. L'oreal Shine Caresse Wet Shine Stain in 187 Infinite Fuschia
6. Wet n Wild Lipstick in 918D Cherry Bomb
7. MUA Lip Boom in LMK (Let Me Know)
8. Milani Lipstick in 11 Black Cherry

DSC_1048

This is after I rubbed it with a makeup remover wipe! It does leave a stain, but because it applies unevenly, the stain is uneven.

Quick Shopping Trip!

DSC_0839
Urban Outfitters Structured Crossbody (on sale for $9.99)
Skinfood Nail Vita #RE-106 $3
Lush Big Solid Conditioner $9.25

Picked up a few things recently! I've been looking for a new bag that's smaller, but not tiny and found one at Urban Outfitters in the sale section! I also picked up Lush's Big Solid Conditioner because I love the scent of the shampoo so much! I haven't used it yet because I don't have a container for it! I should have bought the one they have there T_T

DSC_0855
Skinfood Nail Vita #RE-106

(Sorry for my crappy nail polish applying skills!)
Lastly I picked up a Skinfood Nail Vita in #RE-106. I saw it before, but didn't get it because I was thinking of waiting till my stampcard was full to get a free one. I went ahead and got it though because I've been wanting that color of nail polish.

I absolutely love the color! It's a deep, almost black purple, that kind of looks brown-ish in some lights. I got my nails done a few weeks ago with a similar color from opi, but I didn't get the name of it so I've been looking for one just like it! It is streaky so I had to apply 3 coats to get it opaque. Also, it's been the second day and it's already chipping! I don't know if it's the actual nail polish or a new top coat I used. I bought Won't Chip from Orly today, so I'll see how it goes.

In Love With Dark Colored Lips

DSC_0817
Left to Right: Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain Balm in Forbidden & Midnight, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush, and Wet n Wild Lipstick in 918D Cherry Bomb

Current makeup obsession right now: dark lips. I'm in love with anything plum and burgundy. I don't know why I didn't try lip stains sooner. I don't wear lipstick that much (even though I have a ton! T_T) because I don't like how it messes up so easily when eating foods and drinking beverages. Lip stains are perfect! I can nom to my heart's delight without worrying about messing up the color on my lips. The Wet n Wild one is the exception though. Such a lovely color, but I'll probably only wear it out going clubbing or something.

The con of the Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain Balms are that they apply unevenly and stain dead/flaking skin more as you can see in the picture.
